I'm slowly learning DirectDraw programming, I'm using it ontop of a form so I can draw alot faster due to the canvas drawing flashing occasionally (too slow). I have a map area that is drawn using the canvas on a certain area only, I was wondering if it is possible to have DirectDraw only draw to that area of the form or is this a little tricky? As you can probably tell im very new to this so im sorry if I come across as a little stupid, I have tried many times to do this before coming to the forum, even searched google but came out not much better, I'm using Borland C++ Builder 6 and was wondering if anyone could help, examples are much more appreciated if anyone has the time to point me to some or even write some, all I ask is a lil nudge in the right direction so I can get this running properly, I don't want to be stuck using the canvas
Something that might help a little more to understand what I mean, I have put a few screenshots of my project running in that area.

The quality isn't perfect because I had to convert the screenshots into jpg to save bandwidth and space.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope you can help
