    gametutorials

    GameDev

A lot of people say that SDL and Allegro are really easy and good for people new to graphics. I started out with DirectX and find it to be pretty easy, but I guess that's relative to how much Win32 development you have done. OpenGL is also just as easy (actually I believe it's easier, but that just my opinion).

Both of those compilers are fine. There's really no such thing as a "game" compiler.
