Want help with an HL mod

    Hey guys-

I really want to make an HL mod, and the biggest help I need is someone to actually program it. I can do most of the maping and finding a modeler shouldnt be that hard

From what I hear if you are a good C++ programmer, making an HL mod shouldnt be that hard or big of an adjustment.

The majority of gameplay is laid out, but the plot isnt that well thought out yet. I would apreciate it if you could take a minute of your time and tell me what you think.

Read more about it at the Valve-erc forums here here

Programming an HL mod is like learning a new API, You'll have
to learn how HL works, Acts, Etc.
Also, Half Life is quite old, As well as it's engine, And the're alot
of mod's out there so you'll have to put much effort in it to get
it to actually take notice by some people.

well, the gameplay of my mod is quite different from standard HL mod, so this will be a BIG advantage this should be a leg up.

before you go and make a mod, i'd fool around w/the level editor first, i got that thing about a month ago and still am having trouble doing stuff.....like stairs, just to say, if the level editor is that hard, why waste years of your youth making a mod, make a nice level and be done w/it

He, You're right though, I don't have a clue where Half Life gets
it's popularity from other then mods like CS or TFC.

    lol

HL is so popular because of its ease of use for expansion and user-friendliness. There are ALOT of mods out there for it too, and it keeps people interested, im going on 4 years of HL/mod play.

i'm not too familiar with the HL engine, but i'll download the SDK tomorrow, and start fooling around with it....if your willing to help out with the programming, id be interested....however, i cant do 100% of the coding...me and a few freinds are doing a mod for UT 2k3, so the very little time I have away from programming for school, is spent on that, so I'd need to balance it out
