The Backdrop Story For My Next Game

For those that may be interested here is the backdrop story for my next game. I've been trying to think of something that is actually (somewhat) innovative and exciting. I think this story fits the bill, but I'd like to know if the rest of you agree. And if the rest of you can think of better character names please tell me!

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the Gnomes having had purposefully and deceivingly creating a war between the Tristens and Lystens the world is in danger of being destroyed to it’s very core. The Gnomes were able to start a war between the Tristens and Lystens by tricking each of them severely. The Gnomes captured both a Tristen and a Lysten. Both of them were brainwashed by the Gnomes. The important detail is what happened after the brainwashing. The young Tristen was sent on a mission to kill the leader of the Lystens, Chrimston; however, the Tristen was caught and killed for his actions. The leaders of the Tristens denied any involvement in the assassination attempt. The Lystens decided to believe the Tristens and not declare war. A few weeks went by, but then one day the Lysten, who had been brainwashed, was sent on a similar mission by the Gnomes. This mission was to do the same thing the Tristen had done, except to try to assassinate the Tristen leader, Stamplen. The Tristens immediately declared war on the Lystens. Two years later the two races are still at war.

The Dark Realm is beginning to become extremely upset over the war. See the Dark Realm is the mightiest race of all. In every fight, in every battle, in every war the Dark Realm has fought in they have been victorious. The Dark Realm has always been the ruler of the land in a general sense, but they still do not own all of the land. The Humans, Gnomes, Tristens, and Lystens are still remaining races of the land that have not (yet) been destroyed by the Dark Realm. The Dark Realm has not been in war for many centuries, because the Dark Realm feels as if there is no immediate need for entering a war. The Dark Realm sees themselves as the ultimate superior in life, with all other races being measly pushovers. With that thought process the Dark Realm sees no reason to start a war so as long as the other races stay under control. The Dark Realm views an outbreak of war as being a threat to them. It’s as if the two countries are trying to gain more power. Make no mistake about it; the Dark Realm does not tolerate any gain of power by any of the races. Now the Dark Realm is setting out to once and for all obliterate all of the other races for good.

The Humans being the only race that has any chance of not being destroyed has come up with a plan. They have a set up a secret group that consists of six different members. This group’s goal is to bring peace to the world; however, this is not going to be an easy task. The Gnomes despise all races, and are going to be virtually impossible to have join sides with them. The only way to gain the Gnomes’ help is by murdering their long time leader, Axima. Axima has complete control over his people, and without Axima the Gnomes would be a lost race. If Axima were to be killed it would be possible to have the Gnomes join sides with them. Another duty the group is going to have to perform is to stop the war between the Lystens and Tristens. Even though, the Humans know the real cause of the war, it is still going to be difficult to do. However, the second mission of stopping the war between the Tristens and the Lystens is going to have to be done first and foremost. Once these two tasks have been performed it will be feasible for the Dark Realm to be taken out once and for all. But all this group is being asked to do is to do those two missions and to return home safely. In the choosing of the members you, Garant, have been selected, along with the other members of Saven, Melissa, Eyonnie, Marlon, and Ariana, who have been picked.

You are the leader of this group, and all major decisions will be the responsibility of yourself. The mission will start in three days, so prepare well. I’d recommend buying light weapons with great impact, such as smaller swords, a very effective bow, plenty of protection, and any other item that could be useful on your mission. Good luck and remember not to trust anybody outside of your mission.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks to all of you, who actually read the whole story.

Disclaimer: Copying another person's work to call as your own is an immoral and wrongful act. Eventually it will catch up to you, so please do not copy this story and use it as your own.

cool story the gnomes remind me of the byzentine diplomacy (hehe) but you could change it so that the person playing the game doesn't have to read the whole story line at the beginning. Just put like the first paragraph at first and then tell them their first misssion when they are done their second etc. it will be less reading for the player (who isn't likly to read at all, well at least i never read the story line, lol).
one last thing, humans bring peace by assassinating a leader hehe, too true...

After reading the story I made the conclusion that in this particular situation it is completely feasible to make elements of peace or peaces by attacking Tristens when Lystens attack them and Lystens when Tristens attack them.

After reading your story, I realized I like gnomes. They're small and soft... and some of will even bake you a pie or two.

I agree, gnomes are nice creatures, they don't kill when they bake pies.

but you could change it so that the person playing the game doesn't have to read the whole story line at the beginning.
I was thinking of maybe creating some type of .wav file that will play the story as the story is scrolling down on the screen. It would be kind of like the Star Wars thing while a sound file is reading the story back. How does that sound? But yeah it is kind of difficult to implement a story into a game, especially when you have a $0 budget lol that doesn't allow you to put movies into the game.

After reading your story, I realized I like gnomes.
No no no you're not supposed to like the Gnomes. The Gnomes are supposed to be pesky, annoying creatures that nobody likes. Unless you were being sarcastic I guess I'll have to change the story a bit to make them seem less likeable.

The Gnomes are going to look like the creatures in Lord of the Rings. You know the ones making all of the new creatures and melting iron and stuff like that. Well that's what they're going to look like (except with my personal artistic touch lol ).

Just by even having barely starting this game I can tell it's going to take a looong @ss time. Mainly because of all the art I'm going to have to create. Any artists out there want to help? Your name will be in the credits along with all other recognitions that may come with the game. Basically you'll get as much credit for the game as me if you help me considerably with the graphics. But I doubt anybody will want to do that, and I can't blame them.
