OK, thanks
I just have a goofy IDE. It has a place to put linker information, but I need to learn how to use it.
It was just a free IDE/compiler from downloads.com.
Code::Blocks or Visual Studio Express editions are both free in the sense that they cost no money. Both are good IDE's. Code::Blocks can be downloaded with gcc-mingw as the compiler, which is a good compiler. Visual Studio is also an excellent setup.

Compilers can produce warnings - make the compiler programmers happy: Use them!
