ok now how to explain it
.net is a cross platform interpered layer, that can be be used my numberis windows OS, but is allowed and in development for *nix OS to use. It works sorta like java except you have a large choose of languages and you can mix languages farily easy , such as C# VB.net, C++.net and some others. The only compiler that uses it right now is VS.net but there is a port (can't rember the name) in development for linux. Any company is free to take advatage of .net, and C#.
