    mingw

    how can i install mingw with the latest version of gcc which is 4xx on Windows Xp

    It comes with the Dev-C++ installation package.

    without dev c++
    sorry to mention that

    and yeah the binary for windows at mingw.org contains older version of gcc which I dont want

    And what problem do you have with the installation - do you get an error, or something else that is a problem?

    Download the installer and run it.

    Are you talking about GCC4?

    Oh yeah, thats what I meant, GCC 4

    MinGW installer contains GCC 3

    So how to do GCC ? I mean how to install it ?

    Read the notes.

    Basically, the instructions are: "Extract the files, maintaining the directory structure, into your root
    directory for mingw."

    but they dont tell how to install the GCC 4 ?

    Do you meaan first install MinGW with the automated installer

    and then extract what ?

    Yes, or by downloading the files manually. That's pretty much what the installer does, anyway.

    Tell you what. Take a look around the download pages at Sourceforge.
