    Question Is C++ still the language of choice...

    Do professional software developers still do most of their development with the C++ language ?

    Am I wasting time learning C++ ?

    C++ is one of the most widely used if not the most widely used (I am not qualified to say) language in industry. This is NOT at all a waste of time (like learning basic).

    I'm glad your just joking, I thought I saw somwhere on this site, that programming in COBOL is difficult. I have never seen COBOL source code, and I am not qualified to make a judgement...

    C++ is my favorite language, and I hope that it truly remains the #1 language among software developers

    Depends on the software and on the development. But I don't see it going anywhere soon. It may be made better (still remains to be seen where C# is going...), but much like C++ is just a glorified C... the essentials will probably always be there.....
