    reading programs

I have just recently decided to start reading other programs and try to get involved with them so I may be able to learn and understand code. But the problem I am having is when I download a project to run the code I keep getting errors. I just do not know where to start.
Is their any type of real world projects out there that is good for a new programmer to run and investigate?

I started at sourceforge and downloaded a program called pvr explorer. It looks to me like it was developed with the .net framework. Anyways I could not get it to work.

    here is the download:

    https://sourceforge.net/projects/pvrexplorer-pro

Some one please lead me in the right direction?

Planet Source Code may be a better choice than SF.net
