I have it, got it at a bargain book store for $4 and I still believe I was ripped off. It's a lame excuse for a programming book, missing several key points as well as mucking up the ones they do make. I wouldn't recommend it, but I've heard some people swear by it.

As a rule I shy away from the teach yourself in 21 days or 24 hours books as well as the dummies books. They're not allowed into my house

Yeah....that's the Jesse Liberty book right?

I have the 3rd Edition and I have to agree with Prelude........

I read through the book and found it unpleasant to follow and rather garbled in places........Also there are several key subjects that are not covered or are barely covered.......for example putting IO streams (Including File Streams) in one short chapter that barely gives any coverage......

After the book I still felt uneasy about what I'd learned and so picked up Deitel and Deitel from an auction for about £10.....that's a far better book and even has VC++ Eval. Edition free on disk

I have the books myself fourth edition though and I find it to be very detailed and it explains things in really simple terms using real life examples.....one big problem with it though it's that it gets ahead of itself at times, it talks about things, or put things into codes which are then explained like two "days" later. So up to this point the explanations have been very detailed (I am in chapter nine right now) I don't know how it's going to get as the reading progresses.
