Programming a script and using a dB.

The title may seem abit out there, and does not apply that much.
Anyway, I`m new to c++ coding in general, I`ve been trying some html, php and batch coding but not hardcore.

What I`m looking for is a script that allowes me to get/write and store it into a db(database). I have the things I want to be able to get/edit in a xl (ms exel dokument). I want to be able to enter a few numbers in an x- text field and then automatical it search thrugh the db for a similar code(text).

If you have any tips, suggestions, or guides how I should get started it whould be great.

So you want to write your own C++ program that does everything mentioned?

BTW, C++ programs aren't usually called "scripts".

Don't bump threads. (What I meant about the "script" thing is that they're usually called "programs" or "source files" or something.)

If you have any tips, suggestions
    Did you try google?

There are a few messages on the windows forum, written by Fordy (I think), which deal with interfacing with excel (spelling excel right would be a big help in searching).
