im 16, i started C++ at 15, but it was not my first language... Java was -- I had more interest in C++ because it was system based and the versitility of it. It has got me intersted in other languages like assembly and ASP, but those are more advanced, but thanks to C++ i understand those languages better. I do find C++ is a godd language to start with, but your priorities have to be straight, like what your wanting to do with this knowledge. C++ is a powerful language when used right...

ASP more advanced than C++? (in any way), maybe ASM (assembly) is a bit harder to learn to work with, but not because its advanced, because its so simple its near machine code, using small and undescriptive keywords and lots of numbers. I'm not stating fact, sort of asking, because thats how I thought it was.

I'm 16, I've been using C++ for about 3 years now, it was my first ever programming language, I started out with HTML about a year earlier. I didn't really sit down and "learn" the language, I did it in spurts kind of. I would start getting the basics of C++ down, find something that was difficult, and then not program at all for months, then one day, I would start programming again, and pick up where I left off.

I'm pretty steady now, seeing I'm taking a comp Comp Sci course, and there are occasional programming contests through the year, but I have a hard time finding spare time, cause I'm extremly active.

Anyways, best of luck to you.

All you young people -- keep at it and maybe some day you can have a biography like this one When you are 50 years old maybe you will be the world's first trillionaire.
Born on Oct. 28, 1955, Bill Gates grew up in Seattle with his two sisters. ... Gates attended public elementary school and the private Lakeside School. There, he discovered his interest in software and began programming computers at age 13.
That bio should rub out any doubts about a 13-year-old being able to program a computer

I'm 16, been doing c++ for 2 or 3 years I don't really know... Did a full course from a class (without the class, had a friend pick up the lessons and assignments for me), read 2 books on c++, 1 on win32api, 2 on encryption, I guess you could say I'm really self motivated. Right now I'm in a c++/java class at my school and its awesome having c++ knowledge because I am able to start on advanced theories and such (advanced binary trees, searches, etc...)

I've also had an interest in comps since I was about 5 or 6 or something lol (me and dates == bad). First started on an old mac I found around the house, built my first pc at age 10, and been glued to the screen my whole life.

I have no Idea how my post will help you so I will add something to the topic.
You are never to young to learn, since you are capable of searching online and finding this forum, and posting in the correct forum, you'll do fine in learning c++.

C++ was my first language, I think its really easy to understand. It can be easy or very complex depending on what you use it for.
