its a good book. Im not overkeen on it but you should probably read it at some point. The question is , is it the right book to start learning c++ from. I wholeheartedly feel that this book is not what you are after at this moment. What you need is Accelerated c++ by Koenig and Moo.

Have a look at ACCU. You will see a review for the book Stoned_Coder mentioned as well as for many others.

The book i use is "Teach Yourself C++ in 21 days" i heared it was a really good book, and so far it seems to explain everything very well.

should be called "bin me in 21 seconds". None of the 21 days or dummies books are any good at all.

This book is very good, but not really for novices. I would argue that it is reasonable for someone is pretty well versed in principles of software engineering and design, but is otherwise a beginner to C++. It would not be well suited to someone who is learning C++ as a first language, or to someone who has learnt a language or two but isn't well versed in software engineering theory. It would be very good for someone who has a grounding in the theory and practice of software engineering, and is looking to make the transition from some other programming language to C++ (and especially if that other language is C). It would also serve as a useful reference for a person who is seasoned in C++.
