Hello, I was just wondering if it would be possible to copy a program to a floppy disk to be able use on another computer with the same operating system. Also, would the program be able to run on that computer that doesn't have a compiler? Thanks.

OK. Where would I put that?

Do you mean, if you create a program, will it run on another computer?
Of course...Different editions of Windows for sure, and quite possibly Linux if it's a simple console program.
As for copying programs from a floppy to hard disk, you can do it with a batch file or (easier) just type the command or click-and-drag.
(Unless you meant doing this from C++, in which case, see previous post)
All I want to do is put the program on a floppy disk to be able to use on another computer. Both computers are Windows. I guess I could just click-and-drag like you said. It's only a simple console program. But just curious.

wrong. it depends on the platform. I.E. the processor and system running on it. it it was comiled for win32 running on an intel processor, it'll work on another win32 platform running on an intel processor.Originally Posted by Nazca
it will not however, work on linux. sure you can take standard code and compile it seperately on the two systems, but the same binary won't work for the two.
» system("copy c:\\myprogram a:\\myprogram");
I don't think that's what they meant... the best way would be to simply copy and paste the *.exe from wherever it is to a floppy and then run it from the floppy (or copy it to disk first and then run it)

Ahhh, sorry. Forgot that the actual compilation & binaries were important.
Next I'll remember, then - Ty.
