    positioning in output stream

    I was just wondering how you can position the output stream pointer... I know about seekp, but it doesn't seem to work with cout... is there any way to do this? I'm kinda looking for a way to write stuff to the screen, then go back to a point where the user can fill in blanks...

    specs:
    console app
    win 2k (hopefully portable)
    dev-c++ (v4.9.8.5)

    I'm trying to keep as much of the code in C++ as I know how...

    A terminal isn't guaranteed to be seekable. You should either use something such as ncurses to give yourself more control, or try to be creative with '\b'.
    My best code is written with the delete key.
