No, I don't believe it is different for Windows. It is most likely you are just using an out of date compiler (one that does not follow the current standards). What compiler are you using?

Im not sure to be honest , they are computer labs at school - Im new so dont laugh if this has nothing to do with it - but to compile a program all I type is g (filename).
