    Which operating system / compiler / graphics / whatever are you using.

    Great, that clears everything up - now how about some more detail to that terse reply?

    How about pasting a nice little program which prints one thing to the screen, so we can see what you're trying and whether bold is even possible in that instance.

    There is no standard way of doing this... That's why Salem is asking those questions.

    Standard-portable ANSI/ISO C++ doesn't have any colors, font-choices, graphics, mouse, sound, etc. The thing that makes the standard so portable, is that all it "expects" is a keyboard, a text display, and disk storage.
