Are Borland and other compiler users a little envious of Visual C++ users?
Are Borland and other compiler users a little envious of Visual C++ users?
why would you say that?
C++ can hurt.
not really. i haven't used vs or vc++ or vc++.net yet, so I'm not really sure. As for right now, gcc/g++ covers my programming needs, and its free, so can't beat the price.
My view exactly.Originally posted by alpha

I am a signature virus. Add me to your signature so that I may multiply.
Definately not. The visual c++ compiler is actually one of the worst compilers out there in terms of compliance. I'll take gcc over that crap any day!
Supposedly the next version is going to be standard compliant although i will believe it when i see it for myself but the good news is that andrei alexandrescus awesome library Loki can be compiled by vis c everett RC1. As far as im aware this is the first compiler that can compile loki in its original form completely with even gcc unable to cope with some parts of it. Loki has since been ported to visual c.net and gcc.
Free the weed!! Class B to class C is not good enough!!
And the FAQ is here :- http://faq.cprogramming.com/cgi-bin/smartfaq.cgi
Whoa, hold on there. I thought the Visual C++ compiler was considered the best one.
Can you guys give me specific examples of its flaws?
It has a LOT of problems with compiling and linking templates, especially when combined with OOP.
So which compiler is the best? Borland maybe?
I've never heard of Comeau C++. Is that new? How do you know it's the best? Are you just guessing?
it's the most compliant compiler out there. they have a test online compiler at www.comeaucomputing.com It's very reliable and even supports export and templated templates.
Polymorphic... how far away from the Microsoft Bldg are you situated?
Excuse me, while I water my money tree.
One of the many Microsoft Buildings is actually right across the street, though I really don't see how this pertains to the thread
Well...uh, what programming language do you think is the most popular in those buildings?Originally posted by Polymorphic OOP
