Put the I-beam on the line you are interested in, the line and column number appear in a window on the status line at the bottom right of the window.

I've been playing around with Jens' File Editor http://home.t-online.de/home/Jens.Altmann/jfe_eng.htm (Free!!!) I will can print-out with line numbers and it can print in color, which my version 5 of MSVC++ can't.
You can find more free editors at www.thefreecountry.com.
Or, if you want a commercial program (i.e. if your employer is paying for it) Slick Edit is good ($300.)
