I stand by Deitel & Deitel "C++ How to Program". It's really the only C++ book I've read all the way through (although I own Stroustrup's book, I haven't really had a chance to read it yet.)

i don't think you can really go wrong wiht a C++ book, I mean all in all each one attempts at teaching C++. Some authors can explain things a little better, but it just comes down to practice and writing your own programs I guess. That and having a group of elite programmers on a great online chat forum *buttons suit, shows glistening teeth in a big smile before drinking a can of pepsi with label facing audience*

Thinking in C++ by Bruce Eckel is a very good book. Try it. It will take some effort to begin, but it will be worth the effort.
After you complete the 1st Vol. , you can download the second Volume from www.bruceeckel.com.

I think if you have Deitel & Deitel, C++ HOW TO PROGRAM, you don't need to have another book, at least it's fine with me.
