Borland 5.5

Is the new borland version a windows application or do you type what you want in a .txt file and then convert it. For some reason I don't think so... but whenever I download it and install it, there's never an .exe file.

When all else fails, read the instructions.
If you're posting code, use code tags:
/* insert code here */
What do you mean, based on text files?

Oh, I see... you want an IDE as well. (Integrated Development Environment.)

I use Borland 5.5 along with a decent text editor (in my case Ultra Edit). This type of editor allows you to customise some of the hotkeys to call DOS apps, such as a compiler. Their output is trapped and shown back in the editor.

Try here:

When all else fails, read the instructions.

DevC++ is a nice free IDE and it comes bundled with the Mingw compiler.......If you can spare 10MB or so on your harddrive, give it a whirl!

www.ultraedit.com It's not free, but it'll last 30 days or so before needing to have a seriel plugged into it.

Other ones people have recommended are:
http://www.textpad.com/
http://www.fixedsys.com/context/

(I don't know anything about these though).
