If you dont want o but a book, then the Platform SDK is still worth getting....it has documentation of all wth WinAPI functions and a few examples too...
But if you want a really good book that will pay for itself in what you learn from it....Petzold is a wise purchase.....
yeah, honestly if you've gotten through Petzold and understand it fully you can use the Platform SDK documentation in MSDN for just about anything.

But of all the books on my shelf, that is one that I can say I am very glad I bought
so is this Platform SDK a set of functions and classes that use the Win32 API or something like that? and where can i get it?
also, even though i dont agree with cheating authors out of their money, could someone direct me to the online version of Petzold, so that i can have a preview to see if i should buy it?
