C++ Makes you Feel Better
"Gravity connot be held reponsible for people falling in love"--Albert Einstein
White-out?
The first time in over a week that I've been able to successfully access the site and the first thread I pull up is this one!
Prelude referred to this question as "inane" and, if this were a vote, that's exactly where I would cast mine provided it represents the lowest descriptor available. (Do we only see this one ten times a week? Seems like more often...)
Got a kick out of some of the "options", though.

Turn the page. But despite how correct this is on so many levels, I imagine the majority of people asking how to clear the screen would be baffled and eventually rationalize their ignorance by believing that it was a joke. The rest of you get to choose whether it was indeed a joke or actually an effective and quite brilliant solution. Of course, it could be both.

onurak & skipper, are you guys paying attention?
it was a J-O-K-E.
Some people, from a special birth defect, are unable to detect sarcasm and jokes. It's a rather sad disease; far too many people are affected by it daily. I really wish we could find a cure for it someday.onurak & skipper, are you guys paying attention?
I'll proudly wave my flag of ignorance and ask anyone who can explain what this means if they could do so. Turn the page? I don't follow.>How can I clear the screen in text mode?

Doggone it if you young whippersnappers haven't gone and pulled another fast one on me! A joke, you say? Lord, have mercy, when will I learn?
Actually, TechWins, I'll give you that one. My comments were aimed at the infamous "clear the screen" question in general, not this particular one, which I gathered to be a joke, contrary to what you and Jdinger were led to believe from my post. (An honest assumption, looking on it in retrospect. )
Crimpy, Prelude is suggesting that the majority of those who would ask this question seriously, as well as questions of this ilk, would likely confuse the silliness and sarcasm bantered about as a joke and miss the real point entirely which is to do the research - the allusion to turning the page of the "text" - rather than asking questions like this that have been answered many, many times before. Each of us has the option of deciding whether this is an effective means of getting that message across, or if it's simply a forum for demonstrating how clever and witty we are. (I'm neither, but I'm hoping that with therapy, divine inspiration and a couple of cold ones, I'll be back to my normal, hilarious self. )
Now, put your flag away...

has aanyone mentioned this:
Code:#include <stdlib.h> ..... system("CLS"); .....
TechWins,
I got a million of 'em...That was hilarious...
Anyway, thanks.
Now, Driveway...
You have taken this seriously. Maybe a little too much so, but, what the hell?
System calls get a bit "hinky". The problem that we run into on this site is that we have people developing programs "for the world" and people that only hope to get a homework program running satisfactorily. One end of the spectrum to the other, as it were.
In a word, "Yes". Your suggestion works perfectly well. Running Borland 5 - just me, folks! - 'clrscr();' works very nicely. This drags us into the wonderful, if totally confusing, world of implementation dependency and portablility. (More than you wanted to get into, right?)
Frankly speaking, I'm not good enough to speak about either with any authority. I leave that to the experts.

Skipper, that's a good interpretation of Prelude's answer but my guess is that she is refering to memory paging (those that don't know what I'm talking about should consult Google).
Either way, it was a well crafted answer.
P.S.
Nice subtle reference DA.
