Borland version 4.52 won't output the special ascii characters... what should I do?
If you're running in a DOS window, this might be an operating system limitation. (???) Try executing under pure DOS if you have been running in a window. Windows seems to do some strange things. (I think the Borland compiler can make a DOS program. I use MSVC++ and it can't!)

Yes, also, if you are running the win9x [or even ME] shell of DOS, run it full-screen and you should be fine. Press Alt-Enter...
