Thread: Hi my name is Ted, I was wondering about programming in C++ I cam here for some help!

Hi, like I said my name is Ted and I am wandering about computer programming in C++. I heard I should start with C++ becuase starting with just C programming can mess you up and now a days more and more programs are running w/ C++ code.
Well I bought a book to help me out and I am reding and all and everything (the book is called Sam's Teach Your self C++ in 24 hours) yea right!!!! It has been a long time and I am only on Ch. 5 anyways I was wandering if any one could tell me a little more about programming or anything else you think I should know.

Hey I have the same Book and its a good way to start. After you read it get some more tutorials from the net. Thats the way I started learning C++.

I used Sams book as well, didn't find it that easy. I would recomend Deitel & Deitel 'Programming in C++' (we use that for class, it's damn good).
It may sound corny but I also recomend going to a class, I learn 3 times faster with a human teacher than any text book.

I started with that book to. I liked it but it toke me alot longer then 24 hours to get through it. After that book I went with C++ Unleashed wich I didn't like at all. I then got a bunch of various books on MFC prog but I wasn't impressed with any of them. But about two weeks ago I got the MS book "Programming with mfc" (don't remeber the aouther but he is recomened everywhere on this board) and that book is awesome. I am also joining a class this week so I don't get any bad habits and start to write spagetti code. My next book will be the the MS Api book writen by Petzold. Where do you find classes for programming? Are you in High School or College?

Most college and universities have evening classes that anyone can attend
