Microsoft Visual Basic. How to start programming in C++

I download that program from my class and I'm not sure how to start a blank project for C++. Anyone have any idea or video I can watch?

You might want to start by checking that you downloaded Microsoft Visual Studio rather than Visual Basic.

As for starting a blank project: it should be quite easy to figure out, but I do have two tips:
    • When you are creating the project, you will likely see a bunch of options for project types. Choose the one that says something like "console project" if you're going to write a program involving a command prompt rather than a graphical user interface.
    • If the option for precompiled headers is checked, uncheck it. This feature can be pretty useful for large projects, but for a beginner who is just starting out, it can make things confusing or become a crutch.

I get maybe two dozen requests for help with some sort of programming or design problem every day. Most have more sense than to send me hundreds of lines of code. If they do, I ask them to find the smallest example that exhibits the problem and send me that. Mostly, they then find the error themselves. "Finding the smallest program that demonstrates the error" is a powerful debugging tool.

If you install Visual Studio, then you will see something like this.

If you don't, then you've installed the wrong product or there is something wrong with your installation.
Note that this is under file -> new -> project.

Outside of your DOS world, your header file is meaningless.
