Hey, kyoto...can you use hex for the textcolor and textbackground things?
Invincible, I tried to imply as much as I could that the skeletons would kill you. Any more and it takes the challenge of getting facts from the reading away.
And K4D, you have to use the colors listed in the conio.h library, at least for the way I code color.
Anymore comments welcome!

Although you made that whole devil remark.:(
The game is still cool.
I find that if you say something like "A fearsom Skeleton stands before you, it's polished bones dripping with the blood of the many that had died at his hands." It kind of makes for a more interesting fight. It's all about being descriptive in text RPGs...
I would DL nd play it but, unfortunatley, some person wants me to go to a "meeting" through AIM at 9:30 PM, and it's 9:33 regarding his own arena-battle/RPG game. The person obviously doesn't deserve my attendance because he wastes my time, making me late for the meeting that he scheduled. I find people to be ridiculous sometimes. (he's not even a good coder... i can code circles around him and he's been programming for a year more than me [supposedly])
Thanks for the comment Mr. Devil man, feedback is always nice.
And Aran, here is what it says in my game about these Skeletons...
"...lumbering forms of twisted men...As they meet your gaze, a chill runs up your spine. Their eyes flare to life, a burning hatred of the unsuffering living. They are both armed with deadly greatswords, weapons capable of splitting a man in half. They wear rusted full plate, engraved with images of past times. By all accounts they look to be quite experienced."
And there you have it, enough description for me.
I have decided to change this whole part though, that is what the comments are for after all. Now, you can kill the skeletons, and it leaves you in the same spot as running, except with more experience and gold. How about that? Once I code it out and upload, I will let everyone know. Have to eat some food first :)

There, I have updated that part, so no matter what you choose (to attack or run away) you will NOT die. If you attack, you will get more experience and gold though ;) (Ooops, did I give away a secret ;) )
Hope that satisfies some people. Any more comments or ideas, I am ready to hear them!

What the hell? OF COURSE you spell 'that word' MOULD......yes my poor USA friends, in the language that we in the UK GAVE you, please take our word for it that we know how to spell mould. Oh, and by the way...there is a 'U' in colour.........hehe...take it light hearted lads......:D :D :) :D
cool game!
I got all the way until the skeleton killed me with his sythe. Hey, did Ya know if you would of made this game 15 years ago you'd be rich? Zork had the worst indentation. It never made a new line--it just had a whole mesh of words. Yours, on the other hand, has paragraphs and such. It would of been such a wonderful game in the early 80's...
What compiler are you using?
Thanks Xterria. If only I had known about C++ back then, I would probably be living in Hawaii right about now. Yeah, I tried to space out the text with pauses and everything like that.
And Dual-Catfish, I am using the free v 5.5 compiler off the Borland website.

hey Kyoto about file size being to large, there's 1 thing that you could do use FILES ;)
you like store all the text in one file or even two separate for good/evil characters and then display the required text from reading the file at the position they are written at.
you could use either file-pointers/text comparison or use things like text1,text2... as diff paras and call text1 when the intro is done, text2 when he enter the inn etc
just a suggestion :)
PS
but because you already have such a huge storyline, [the best i have seen so far] it will mean more work to change the prog structure.
Ishir, it would be a lot of work to change it into the way you have said. I think instead I will go for the files approach. Maybe do a seperate program for the good and evil side of the quest or something. Thanks for the comment about the story, I tried to make it as good as I could!

Hey Kyoto, where did you get the music and art for your site? It's amazing.
Oh, and one last word on the skellies. Making them look undefeatable just gave me all the more reason to go for it. I never back down from a challenge to fight the unbeatable foe...
Edit:
Judging from the picture I can see your main intention is to kill of the main character :D
Nice! I think Blizzards in for some competition in a few years. ;) Seriously tho, best storyline i've seen in a text game ever. You've got a better grasp of the language than a lot of people i know that were born with it. I didnt play very far as i'm short on time but i was impressed.
Nice setup too (indentation, etc). One bug i found. I typed 'n' (for go north) when i was in the inn talking to Derek (i think was his name?) and the game starting spewing endless text "Selection: " at me.
Totally sweet. More! We want more! :D
Well Invincible, I got the music from Bjornn Lynne (just a site, I don't know the guy). At http://www.lynnemusic.com . I had to use MIDI for the site, since MP3 or WAV take too long to load up. Most of the images are from Dungeons and Dragons rulebooks, the maps are off the Wizards of the Coast page (www.wizards.com/dnd) Map-a-Week feature, and I made the logo and took the background from some HTML archive a long time ago. And the Darkwood picture, I just used it because of the tree; the dying guy was a bonus :)
And lightdawn, thank you for the good review of my game. The thing about the repeting of Selection: is that there is a menu, such as
1. Go north
2. Go south
Or whatever. I use int for the selection entered, and if you enter a character it tends to crash it. I am probably going to change it all to strings, since there isn't really any point in having them as int...looking back I should have used a string. I will try to change it soon.
Keep the comments coming, thanks to anyone who responded!
