    Thumbs up

I am a beginner myself and have found that programming is no different then anything else in life, in order to become proficient, you gotta practice.

The only one that can help you, IS YOU!

As far as excercises, I do not know what some of the others would say, but maybe a book like Deitel's "C++ How to Program". I have used their book for C and found doing the excercises at the end of each chapter to be quite beneficial.

    Practice, Practice, Practice.

Just about any book on programming that you get will have exercises at the end of each chapter that will help you gain experience with the language. You can also try solving problems on these forums to learn the art of debugging

Did your parents make you become a computer science major? Because if they did, I would like to speak to them.

I hope you actually have an interest in programming. Otherwise you won't have fun learning.
