yeah, it's just that the basics is generally the hardest part to grasp.
tell me about it, took me forever... just hang in there you'll get it eventually.

Is there a site witha tutorial that explains the basics more clearly?
The one that this site seems to just jump straight into it thinking that you have prior knowledge of C++.
Well, is there any other sites?/tutorials?
i don't know any links off-hand so the best i can tell ya is to search www.google.com for C/C++ tutorials...
In the links or books section of this site, there should be a link to Teach yourself C++ in 21 days

Yeah, thanks, I found a few turtorials at www.google.com
^^
Oh, also, would it be better to just buy a good book? or continue learning off the www tutorials?
^^
well, I learned the basics from a book and then when I went to learn the *harder* stuff (even though its not very hard), I came to this board. Its much better becuase its easier (for me, anyway) to learn from a person, then a massive clump of text.
Yeah, I noticed its easier, your post was quite long, interesting though.
hey your an aussie?....good work :-)
^^
Oh, is MS Visual Basic like a "super" compiler or something?
Or just a different version of C/C++?
I heard it's like $600 - $700
