ok i fixed it.
I did it this way:
instead of this wayCode:strcpy(chr.weaponName,wpname);
Oh and here is an update and some src codeCode:chr.weaponName = wpname;

the about thing is nice, just remember to put the version of the game in the about too, so people will know if they need to update their software, if you release another version.
I got another idea. You could make something to patch the game, so you don't need to download every version. This is no biggy though, since your program is so small. But the only way you could do the patcher thing is to make external files, like one for the monsters, one for the areas, etc. But as I said, no biggy for a 69k program :)

it seems whenever i drink a potion i get damaged... is there some great awesome thing that i can get from drinking a potion? because ive lost interest in drinking them, everyone ive drunken has damaged me :(

it says:

then i gained a level and never got the spell!
maybe you should fix that, make it so gaining a level doesnt override the stuff in the chests that you find...
anyways, what DO you get in those chests? it never told me! haha

There is a random item thing that takes a number from 1 to 4 and if its 1 = Healing Potion, 2 = Aura thing, 3 = Ring, 4 = Damage potion.
I have changed it so that on 1 and 2 you get heal instead. Hope its better now.

you need to put your saves in a folder called saves (just saves, not SAVES or Saves), in the same folder that you have fightgame in.

I have also changed the intro slightly and i have redone the prologue.

ran the prologue and i noticed already...
halfway down the prologue it skips a line, it does its typing thing, then it starts typing (whats supposed to be the next line) on that same line and re-writes over the old one! Run it for yourself Erion and youll see...
also when i went to "about" to bask in the glory of my name being in it, when i returned it said i have played the game 2! times...instead of 1! :D
oh, and i would like my monster to be near the end and named "Paro's Deathreaper" has a nice sound to it :D
i also noticed i cant load my old save file...
oh well im off to school and im gonna bring it with me again and maybe find some other bugs cya later
I fixed your bug things and i added Paro's Deathreaper =D
Oh and you need to put your savefiles in a folder named saves
or you can replace hellhound with hellparo
(paro means dog in spanish) :)
could you add something new to do? Like make you find a casino in all the areas, maybe you could make it to where you can buy armor, or some mini-games.
I downloaded Version 1.22, When I go to Karak Plains shop, it says Money: 71, when I try to buy the double daggers, it says You Do Not Have Enough Money....

i think you should also include a text file called "readme" that will explain some complications like saving to the "saves" folder...

before when it was easier and less complicated to save and load it was a lot better :P

Ehh all the dat files are for other stuff! The save files can be anything. The autosave.dat and stuff are just for containing the filenames.

Im makeing a text based rpg and for the inventory one idea was to do something like int max_weight and int weight give each item a weight and add it to the weight only if it will be less then max_weight

It will include inventory, more complex leveling up, maybe even more monsters....how would you like to be Beta tester if i succéed?
In the next version of this game, I think the next logical step, especially in the way of game development would be to implement a map that a player has to follow. It is very easy to do, you can represent it as an array, or you can use vectors, which are pretty similar to arrays. You can choose to display the map or not... I, myself, am working on a text RPG, with a map and about 20,000 walkable tiles. I can easily place quest items in certain areas of the dungeon by calling each cell within the array.
No i would have to redo the entire game if i wanted it to use a tile engine.
And i wonder if it would be as fun.....
Actually, you could just replace your random loop for events with a loop function through an array. It is actually pretty easy and I am not even a good programmer... I use goto statements like they are going tou of style.
I have a question about how you did something. How did you make the text go slow like that on the same line? Like somebody was typing it or something. The only idea I would have of that would be to use sleep. Can you give me an example of how you did that please? Thanks.

I'm working on FightGame 2.0
So far i have done the inventory and i am doing a bit of tweaking here and there.
I have added a trade shop where you can sell stuff that you now get from monsters.
I will add plenty of ítems aswell.
I'm planning on doing an Armor shop too!
I am also planning on making it so that you put points into life and skill and so on ,+ some other stats that i will add, when you lvl up.
A few suggestions and a few things I will doing with my game.
I really think you should change your game title. That can do a lot to set the mood of the game.
A few things I have already put into my game and some more that I plan to, my project is only 11 days old and should be ready in about a month with everything implemented.
1) floors with 3150 walkable tiles. Each floor represents a new difficulty level. Not only do the monsters get tough, but also the puzzles to open doors and answers riddles that will make monsters grant you passage.
2) A rule-set much like dungeons and dragons. You will get a lot of stats like willpower, intelligence, strength and dexterity. I also have a full table for poison and elemental damages for each of the races I have in the game.
3) Many races including: elves, dwarves, centaurs, undead, goblins, and humans. Each have bonuses to diffirent stats making each race unique.
4) Like you, I have implemented an inventory system as well as a random loot generator so enemies may drop items that may have special bonuses to stats.
5) I have a full range spell system.
6) After I release the single player game I am going to mess around with networking code and maybe come out with a later version that supports a few more people to play the game with you.
7) Along with the main storyline, there will be many subquests that you do not have to complete but you can to receive special items or maybe special information that will make completing the dungeon easier.
8) A slightly different storyline for each of the races. And some completely different subquests.
What is so good about ErionD's game that it gets so many replies? I played it and it didn't seem that special, even that finished or polished off.

I have added the inventory, an Armor Shop, a Trade Shop, items from monsters, putting points in stats when you lvl up.
I have added Strength,Charisma,Dexterity and Intelligence.
Each lvl you get 4 points. 1 point in any of these stats raises them by one.
You can also put points in life and skill.
So far the stats aren't doing anything important.
Str = more damage.
Int = more spelldamage
Cha = better prizes and selling and stuff
Dex = bigger chance of fleeing (this is for you Paro :D )
So far you start with 3 in each stat but i think i will make it so that you can choose a race and then the stats are different for the races.
Oh and Paro, any e-mail i can send beta version to?

Argh with all the new games i have so much trouble saving... Just to keep you guys up to date, the new game is much more advanced in the text based area than it was before, the stat viewing is real cool, theres armor upgrades, places to hold items, item use in battles, you can save your potions in your inventory, and theres an input that gives you a cheat .txt file that tells you what to input to get free stats and skills :D
he will probably make a new thread when he releases it and i wont be posting the errors here, i email them to him :D
