    IDE questions

I was using Dev-C++ and decided to try out a new IDE. So i downloaded Visual C++ 2008 and am having troubles with it. The guided tour doesn't even compile for me and gives me errors I've never seen before on simple programs. Are there any other free IDE's that are "good"? Or would just investing the time to learn Visual C++ be more worthwhile than using a different IDE?

Visual Studio is the compiler most companies use for Windows development. The errors most likely have to do with you not installing the Windows SDK first, which is not included with the download for some reason.

Bloodshed (dev-c++) is very outdated and no longer maintained.
