i have a char array say a[100]
I need to scan the array until new line is encountered..
ofcourse i can use
But i need to scan and place the first char on a[1] and not a[0]...Code:scanf("%s",a);
I nheed to check with the ascii of newline i guess...

Your question isn't really clear. As far as scanning for a newline, just loop through the array until you encounter '\n'. Just be sure that the array wasn't read from the stream in binary mode, or else things will get more complex.

If you're reading input with %s, then you're never going to get a \n in any buffer.
