What are the best debugging resources?

Rather than reading all the search results in this forum for debugging, I'd rather just ask. My question includes tools & references?

    Depends on your IDE.

GDB for GCC-based, MS debugger for VS.

This has also been answered elsewhere.

It is good to see that you know about searching before you ask, but it is not so good to see that you have paid lip service to searching and post the same question across message board communities.

If they do, I ask them to find the smallest example that exhibits the problem and send me that. Mostly, they then find the error themselves. "Finding the smallest program that demonstrates the error" is a powerful debugging tool.
