    Yes good contest,

Although how many beginners actually entered your contest? If the answer is not many, as I suspect perhaps you need to drop the level of difficulty for them. (After all wasn't this the purpose of your original thread?)

This is just speculation of course. I may be wrong. It also might be a good idea to post the enteries of everyone's solutions here.

The problems dont look too hard, all you need to do is sit down and think, maybe even write out an algorithm

The problems are very simple indeed - to an experienced programmer. I'm sure it took some a little less than a few minutes to come up with the solutions - however, the point being how many beginners actually entered?

    Not many?

Again this is just speculation as I have no idea who entered. But if this wants to take off as a Beginner's Contest, then the host should get some feedback from beginners and find out why there was a poor turn out.

Was it due to the difficulty or was it just no one (beginners) had the time to enter?

Other options include making a contest for beginners only, so that experienced programmers are not allowed to enter. This may encourage more noob's to enter since they have more chance of winning.

However, this suggestion has its pitfalls. How do you decide who are classed as noob's and who are not?

Well, you could go by the honour system Anyway, I don't think this was necessarily about difficulty; it might just be that beginners don't visit the contest board (I almost never do, it's just a fluke that I caught this one) since most of the contests are about AI and whatnot, and generally there's nothing suitable. Maybe this contest just needed better advertising?

Yea i thought that that might be a problem, so i did try to
advertise this contest in the c++ section.

As for the problems, i thought they would be suitable for
several level of beginner, and the holding of a contest
was good experience for me to, think i learned more about how
to do it and do it more fair.

I might hold some more contest in a the near future.

Just wanted to say that I thought that the compatitions were brilliant for beginners and I learnt alot from doing them. Unfortunatly i didn't discover them untill the closing date hence no entry. Look forward to seeing some more.
