    Future of cprogramming.com contests

Please vote honestly. If the poll results indicate, i'll notify the mods to find someone else for this position.

I can't seem to spark much interest in the contests... the most recent of which only has two contestants (I don't know if either of them are confirmed) and the contest end is nearing. What am I doing wrong? Nothing? Everything? What would you like to see happening? What have I done in the past that could have been done better? Please, tell me.

I sent my submission in. I spent a lot of time on it taking out every possible bug, mistake out. Wasn't the end of it April 1st?

I think you should do contests which are easier to understand (mid()?) and that are fun coding. You should motivate people to do them too, you don't really do that.

I don't think you are doing anything wrong. I'd like to participate, but the last two contests, I couldn't for essentially two reasons:

    1. I don't really have much time right now, being busy with school and all. Which is part of number two and leads into.
    2. The last two contest topics I haven't seen yet, nor did I know about yet. I was going to read up on regular expressions, but I haven't had the time to read about regular expressions.

I don't think I'm ready enough for these as of yet. I still have a lot to learn, and as I do, I will hopefully find something that I know about but will also give me a challenge doing in future contests.

You aren't doing nothing wrong, but just one thing try to give us contests in C/C++ not just in C++. I'm not a C guru to try to solve problems that could be easilly done with C++. Also the last contest about regular expression it was funny (I even started to do it) but I didn't have time to finish it...

I don't think anyone around here could make better job than you.
I'll vote, yes, you're doing a good job.

Vber pretty much summed up everything I was gonna post lol. But using C would be cool cause I don't know C++. I'm not a guru either but I think I know enough to compete, well maybe heh. Your doing awesome I think the hardest part is knowing what contests to have.

    LOL, nice poll results.

You're doing fine man. If anyone wants to see something better then they can contribute their ideas to the Contests board.

    > What would you like to see happening?

i havent been here that long so i dont know whats really gone on in the past but here is a suggestion.

finding a contest topic that will apeal to everyone is just not possible. so, maybe you could rotate the genre of the contests. for example.. (WARNING: just example purposes, these topics might suck)

1 - best effect with a particle engine (appeal to us game/graphics noobs)
2- fastest program to generate n primes starting from prime i (for the algo lovin guys/gals)
3- worst use of a goto statement (for the old style C guys) j/k

ok im out of ideas already, man your job is kinda hard. but i think i got my idea across.

Cuz the poll was rigged in your favor. You had the most motivation to rig it.

It's was probably Contest_Master, because I certainly don't have the authority to do such a thing!

If u want more contestants, organise more contests.
Create contests for all kinds of programmers, beginners, intermediate and advanced. Allow both C and C++ to be used.Allow all kinds of languages for Windows programming such as VC++,VB6,VB.net,other .net languages etc.
Offer attractive prizes for winners, may be not monetary, but attractive, eg.-Special Flash Avatars or something...
And yes,act more proffessional by changing the style of your language and not arguing with other members.
I guess these should help you do better, though you do a good job anyway.
