    New to C: Few Questions

    Hello,

I am wanting to learn C, but I have not much experenice in programming (only a little in HTML). Is it possible for me to learn C without any prior knowledge? I want to learn as fast as possible. I am going to go through the tutorial here at cprogramming.com, the one for C thats for beginners.

Basically, I have never really programmed before, but will I be able to learn C going through this tutorial: http://www.cprogramming.com/tutorial/c/lesson1.html

C can take years and years to master. You'll be able to make a simple program using that tutorial, but probably not much more.

Trying to learn "as fast as possible" isn't exactly an approach I'd recommend. Go play with VB if that's what you want.
If you understand what you're doing, you're not learning anything.

Well, honestly....I don't mind taking the time to learn C. I've been told VB isn't all that good.

alpha, everyone has to start somewhere and following proper beginner tutorials right off the bat is a great way to learn. as mentioned, its not like youll be able to program a webbrowser or some advanced and practical application after following the tutorial. it takes alot of time, no one will ever know all there is.

after about half way through the tutorial you can probably make simple trivial programs to keep your interest and test your knowledge. maybe you could try and make a simple calculator for the 4 basic arithmetic functions.

    good luck

Yes, I don't expect to be able to code anything like a broswer right off the bat. I'd be happy just to program any simple program. Thanks for the help guys. I'm going to get started on the tutorial
