is there a simple command in C to increase the array size of a variable?
or is it stuck the the size array it was initialized with?

Use memory allocation. realloc(), to be exact.

You're stuck.
Use a pointer and malloc()
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.
Try searching for "malloc realloc calloc free" to get some examples. Or see the FAQ (I imagine it has something).
