    Lightbulb opening files

Can you open multiple input files at the same time or will I have to open and close one then open the other?

    Try it and find out.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

You can, but there is usually quite a low limit (compared to all the other limits) for the number of files you can have open at the same time.
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.
