why would you ever go past gcc?

    hey all,
i dont understand why you would even consider buying a compiler unless you were going to sell your programs...

its sorta self supporting.. more money you make.. better you'll be at programming and the more performance you'll want to milk out of your code.

just start with something free thats up to date..

money could be spent on better things.. like..
    BEER.. :-)

    cheers,

Since when has programming been all about making money? I'd rather program for the fun and lose a few dollars buying a good compiler, then trying to compete with professional programmers to make money...

    Thumbs up

    gcc is too good

    and its free

vc++ is great and has a better IDE but it costs money

so what do i do ?
a)live away from Microsoft's prying eyes
    b)use a cracked msvisstudio6 for free
    and use gcc on linux

    HAS anyone used KYLIX yet?

ITS A NEW GRAPHICAL IDE FOR LINUX FROM BORLAND AND ITS FREE

I have never used Kylix but if it is good I will buy it because I do like DELPHI.

For a while know I have been looking for a cracked version of VC++ and found one but one zip file was damaged so I could not get the whole thing.
