is it possible that on this OS some things arent working the way its supposed to be because i wrote something and it works perfectly in win 9x and in win xp but apperently in win 2000 pro it gives errors...(by the way it was a console app)

I don't know about Win2000, but I think others who are may want to know what errors you got.

Of course it's possible. NT doesn't have DOS like Windows 95 and 98 have. Thus, if you're using something specific to DOS, your apps will likely not function. As stated, post your errors and the suspect code.

Because DOS is virtually obsolete. Furthermore, NT is not DOS. They're two entirely different operating system. That's like saying why doesn't UNIX support the full DOS command line? Or why doesn't Mac OS support it?

in creation of windoze 95 and 98, M$ made every concession possible for DOS compatibility. but, the nature of DOS and DOS programs is such that they really have no place in a modern operating system. so dos support was put on a back shelf for 2k and xp (only support what is easily supported dos-wise)
