    Linux

I have a book titled Absolute Begginers Guide to C, from sams publishing. I have been studying it for a while, but I am not allowed to download a compiler on to my computer because my parent thinks it will mess it up. I have my own pc though, just no OS. I was wondering, since I have a CD burner or a Windows 98 disk, if there was any other way to put linux on my pc without buying it or burning it. Maybe save it on to a floppy? I am new to Linux personally, but I have been programming for about 2 years now, and I am sure I can handle it. Anyone know what I can do?
