i tried

Any suggestions?

void function(int a[2][2] ) {
void function(int a[][2] ) {
void function(int (*a)[2] ) {
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.
You could also do:

But, doesn't that limit what you can do with something like this?Code:void function (int arr[]); /* legal */ void function (int arr[][2]); /* illegal */
