I've no idea.
It stopped being a C programming problem when you said you didn't have a physical printer plugged into an actual port labelled LPT1.
Such things have been obsolete on computers (and especially laptops) for years and years.
What you need is a website specialising in windows technical support type issues on guiding you through the Windows 10 hoops to 'share' the network printer in such a way that it's visible through the obsolete LPT1 driver.
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.
You were asked to run "mode" in a cmd window.
And instead of doing that you said "can I use system()"?
The answer is maybe.
But you still have to find out how to refer to your printer.
And you still seem to refuse to run the mode command.
Why?
As for the discussion being "daunting", that is just silly.
What is daunting is dealing with someone who refuses to type in a simple command and report back the results.
Instead of only thinking about yourself, consider how we feel, too.
I was going to ask you to run a more complex command in powershell, but what would be the point?
A little inaccuracy saves tons of explanation. - H.H. Munro
I had no idea what you meant by running mode. If you'd said type in the word mode in a command window I would have understood. What might be obvious to yourself, might not be obvious to somemone else.
This is what I get

If you have another question about C; I hope you ask a smart question!

This seems to have run it's course.
