    Disk sheduling and raids OS

    in brief may please anyone link me a good source,website,pdf for reading about raids and disk scheduling in aspect of operating system?
    for example I want to know why function write needs 2 I/O functions but function read needs 1 I/O function .. and about speed of disk .. lets assume I have 100 ops on four disk and need to know at what speed each disk is reading ..etc
