what is a putchar ('\n') what does it do in the program
It creates a new line. Same as 'return' on your keyboard.
Is it the same with printf?>
Yes. Often one writes out a string followed by '\n' such as printf("Hello world.\n"); but one can clearly output just the '\n' by itself.
