    eg.
    f(x) = f(x2) + a

    It a function defined using a call to iteself. For instance:

    f(n) =
    f(n-1)+f(n-2) for n >2
    2 for n = 2
    1 for n = 1

    That defines the Fibonacci sequence recursively.
