Believe me we are not treating you as a senior.... If anything we perceive you as a bit of a fool.

Stop and think carefully now... Several people have pointed out that Turbo C is a complete waste of time in today's world. It produces 16 bit code that won't even run on 64 bit Windows. It's non-standard in ways that will require a huge "catching up" effort in any professional programming position, it is teaching you bad habits you will have to unlearn, it's long abandoned and the company that produced it no longer exists.

Only an idiot would try to promote it and only a fool would defend it.

This is the entire problem in India right now... They've become a diploma mill, cranking out incompetent engineers, based on 20 year old technology and for the most part the students they VICTIMIZE don't even know it until it's too late and they discover their diplomas aren't worth the paper they're printed on.

    You're kidding... right?

I am a self-taught programmer... starting in Turbo Basic then Pascal and now C. I don't care two craps in a manure pile what went on yesterday. I am a programmer... programmers build the future, we don't dwell in the past.

VXYZ ... get off the "like" button... Just don't do it!

Do you have any idea how annoying it is to have to go and clear notifications every three minutes!

Save it for when someone says something truly profound or beneficial... don't just keep hitting the stupid thing.

I am not entirely sure that kind of philosophy can be usefully applied with programming, i am aware that some cultures / schools of thought place great stock in such thinking, but i cannot see a value that can be extracted by bolting it onto programming. Is there any point in knowing how to drive a model T ford to improve your skill at driving a modern car? No, the model T although it fulfilled the same basic tasks as todays vehicle some of its operation involved methods that would be mostly unintelligible (and useless) to a modern driver

No the command prompt is not 16 bit aps. On all versions of windows since Win2000, cmd.exe has been a 32 bit program.
On x64 versions of windows there are both 32 and 64 bit versions.

Windows 64 bit versions (XP, Vista, Seven) will not even run 16 bit apps.

You aren't getting this at all... are you?

Everyone here is telling you the exact same thing... Turbo C is useless.

You aren't getting responses from interested people because nobody wants to waste their time on stone-age computing...

Even Adak, a die hard Turbo C user has spoken about updating to Pelles C... take the advice!.

Nope...just because it looks like the old DOS prompt doesnt make it 16 bit.

That's like saying to learn to drive you need to start in a Model T Ford. IF you follow that analogy, you need to go buy some punch cards and a truck full of valves before moving up to Turbo C.

With so many decent free compilers (GCC, MSVC, Pelles...) there's _NO_ reason to stick to such an outdated tool

I used it for around three years, and in the face of modern alternatives. Through laziness i have to say, unwillingness to tackle some new learning when i was having enough to do with the code itself, basically 'sticking my head in the sand' and keeping with the status quo. Not evolving.

I dont have a smart answer for that one, I believe it has been an emulated version for several years now though

The change came with windows 2000 ... before then, DOS ran windows... now Windows runs a DOS emulator.

    It shows
Right 98% of the time, and don't care about the other 3%.

If I seem grumpy or unhelpful in reply to you, or tell you you need to demonstrate more effort before you can expect help, it is likely you deserve it. Suck it up, Buttercup, and read this, this, and this before posting again.
