    Program Versions

I just finished my first version of a program but I don't think it is totally done yet... How would I write the program version? V1.0 Beta1, or v1.0 Beta, also I have seen programs say v1.0 build 991 or something like that. What does all this mean?

version 1.0 beta if it isn't complete, then when you finish change it to version 1.0. Further updates without any real large rebuilds increase to 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc.. Then when you make a huge change you can go to version 2.0 and start over.

It would still be beta, versions only matter if the program has been released as a final build. Though if you really want to you can say version 1 beta build 1, 2, 3, 4, etc...
