    newline with fprintf()

    I'm using fprintf to print strings to a file, but I can't get it to make a new line.

    Here's my code:
    char buffer[80];
    FILE *f;
    f = fopen ("tester.txt", "wb");
    fprintf(f, "HELLO\nWORLD\nIt's Good\nTo See\nYou");
    fclose (f);
    The output I'm hoping for is:
    It's Good
    To See
    But instead I'm getting:
    HELLOWORLDIt's GoodTo SeeYou
    thanks for your help

    Inside my computer
    Try changing
    f = fopen ("tester.txt", "wb");
    f = fopen ("tester.txt", "w");
    and see if it changes anything.

    Change "wb" to "w" since you do not intend binary mode.

    I get maybe two dozen requests for help with some sort of programming or design problem every day. Most have more sense than to send me hundreds of lines of code. If they do, I ask them to find the smallest example that exhibits the problem and send me that. Mostly, they then find the error themselves. "Finding the smallest program that demonstrates the error" is a powerful debugging tool.

    haha, thanks that sorted it. I can't remember why I used the 'b' in the first place...
