Quite often the discussion about which language is "best" becomes a flame war. Because of the relative frequency/regularity of this sort of thing happening, the regulars are often wary of threads heading in that direction. It typically ends up in fruitless posting. That was all I meant.
My point was that worrying about the language of the day is pointless, because after you have been in the business for a long time, you will likely have picked up so many languages that they do indeed start to look the same. As for me, I am not even close to being at the point where all languages look the same (nor am I likely to be - I work at a completely unrelated field, and only program as a hobby). Hence the reason why I mentioned what experienced programmers have written, because on that front I am certainly not in the place to really make a comment of my own.
